Music
I picked up the drums in my early twenties. They are one of those things that once you learn to play them, you're hooked. I've never actually played in a band... but there's still time for that. As far as inspiration goes, I'd have to say the late John Henry Bonham of Led Zeppelin or Damon Che of the now defunct, Don Caballero.
Skatebording & Snowboarding
I got my first skateboard when I was 6yrs old, and though I don't get to do it as often as I'd like to these days, it's something that will always be a part of who I am. I picked up snowboarding, when I was in middle school and it's taken me to see some places that I never would have seen without it. My favorite places, to ride are Solitude in Utah and Niseko in Hokkaido, Japan.
Japan
It started with a trip to Japan in 1999. I really had no knowledge Japan before my visit, but I had a great time. As soon as I got back, I signed up for classes to learn Japanese. Japan is an inspirationl place because of the unique juxtaposition of modern and classical elements throughout the country and culture. I can speak conversational Japanese, read both native syllabaries (Hiragana & Katakana), and can recognize around 200 of the 1,945 commonly used Chinese characters.
